Force of Habit

The quote by Aristotle, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit," really causes one to think about more than just what is asked of the blog prompt. It make me wonder if the person I am and if the person I will become can be altered or is defined by the habits that I have adopted throughout my life. Not only that, I causes me to ponder the idea that someone's reputation can then be created based on how others view the habits of that person.

More importantly, I think that the experiment challenge has in fact caused me to pick up habits that I had not even noticed until recently. For instance, I find myself always practicing the steps I learned during the challenge that are used to induce a lucid dream. Also, I am constantly doing my best to replay my entire dream in my head every morning while analyzing what the dream meant and what advice it may have had to offer. Being able to more clearly remember my dreams and having that feeling of pride that I am sticking to the experiment as a habit, and also that I am becoming increasingly closer to achieving lucidity gives me a more positive attitude. This of course directly relates to my research paper on whether lucid dreaming has the ability to improve ones psyche or not.

  2. That's awesome that you have kept it up, dreams can tell you a lot about yourself and your mind. Also this is super random but I do not know if it was because of what your topic was but I had a dream over break and in the dream I knew it was dream...it was just really different! But I really like your experiment!
